12th Nobember 2020 Update from Sheila: On 12th November Steve came out to collect 43 shoeboxes, we were short of a bakers dozen to reach last years target which was 56. However with the Coronavirus we did extremely well in putting together the 43 boxes. I will say at this point that every care was taken by the very small team in packing the boxes by following all government guidelines, social distancing, face masks and sanitising. As always we have items left over which are not enough to give a shoebox a good selection, these are sent over in bags of which there were several along with hats and scarves to keep the Seafarers nice and warm on the icy cold sea’s. Shoeboxes are distributed quite early as many ships will be out at sea over Christmas and the distribution continues into January. Steve Willows (Port Chaplain) today thanked us for our generosity not only for the shoeboxes but for the knitted hats and clothing we donate throughout the year. And perhaps a little early, he wished us a peaceful and blessed Christmas.
