Apostleship of the Sea

SEAFARERS MISSION CENTRE IMMINGHAM

PATRON: HER MAJESTY THE QUEEN

 PRESIDENT: THE PRINCESS ROYAL

A mini bus outing from the parish of Holy Rood led to the friendship we have today with the mission centre at Immingham. Throughout the year we are busy knitting hats for the seafarers and seeking wool from family and friends. Our appeal for items to fill shoeboxes begins early autumn, by the beginning of December the shoeboxes   have been packed, gift wrapped and ready for delivery to the mission centre in good time to be handed out to seafarers over the Christmas period

‘Giving hats to seafarers is an act of kindness, appreciation & hospitality towards those who are far away from home for many months and often operate in harsh conditions. Given the speed at which they are taken, gifts of woolly hats are very much appreciated by seafarers’ said A Wright, Secretary General of the mission.
